Divya Nawale currently works with the UN Framework Convention on Climate change (UNFCCC) providing policy engagement support to the Fashion and Sports sectors as part of the UN's Race to Zero Campaign. Previously, she worked with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Indonesia and Philippines, where she focused on renewable energy and energy efficiency policies. She was also part of the core team that launched the Energy Transition Mechanism (ETM) in 2021. ETM is an innovative financial initiative by ADB that aims to be the largest carbon reduction model in the world.
Divya has a strong history with Pittsburgh where she studied Masters in Public Policy at GSPIA (University of Pittsburgh), and served as Sustainability Fellow at the City of Pittsburgh, helping draft the 3rd Climate Action Plan for Pittsburgh in 2017. She feels a deep connection to the city having interned at places like Strong Women Strong Girls (SWSG), and volunteered for several initiatives that she looks back on fondly. Pittsburgh is also where she shared stage with Nobel Prize Laureate ex-VP Al Gore talking about her journey from India to everywhere, as it was his 2007 movie "An inconvenient truth" that inspired her to work in the sustainability space.
Divya has traveled twice to Antarctica with UN Goodwill Ambassador Robert Swan OBE, and had touched all 7 continents by the age of 27. In her personal life, she is a zero-waste enthusiast and has adopted an eco-friendly lifestyle, including being vegan for the past 15 years.
