Bala is an Associate in the Pittsburgh office of McKinsey & Co where he works with the Firm's Sustainability practice on energy transition topics. He enjoys working with clients on industrial decarbonization strategy and developing operating models to support deployment and integration of renewable technologies. He is passionate about advancing sustainability in business and society and is excited to see a thriving space emerge to support that movement in Pittsburgh.
Previously, he was a real estate lawyer and energy industry consultant. He serves on the boards of Fair Shake Environmental Legal Services and the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy. Originally from Florida, he attended the University of Florida before receiving a JD from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where he interned in the Environmental Law Clinic, and an MBA from Rice University where he served on the organizing committee for the Rice Energy Finance Summit and helped launch the Rice Cleantech Innovation Competition.
